Some confusion here. So regarding Apple's M1 chip and Apple's history of soldering memory onto a motherboard, this is not the same thing as memory built in within a chip, or in this case, the M1 chip. So think of a motherboard as a small town and a chip as a house within that town. The more tasks you can do inside of your home without venturing into town, the more efficient you are at executing tasks and the less energy and resources you will need to operate. So in a nutshell, guys, you save a lot of time and energy. The same goes for systems on a chip, a.k.a. SOCs. So memory soldered onto a motherboard does not make it any faster than memory that you can remove and replace.
